Why ME – Cold River Vodka

As Maine’s first craft distillery, Cold River Vodka set the standard by which a cadre of new businesses are now judged. Using only locally-sourced Maine potatoes from a farm in Fryeburg, Cold River is dedicated to supporting their community and producing world class spirits, including a fantastic gin and a smoky barrel-aged vodka that is on par with even the best whiskeys.

Meet Erin, Cold River’s social media guru and tasting room guide, as she walks you through an amazing apple cider cocktail that is perfect for leaf-peeping season!

Why ME – Portland Farmer’s Market

Every Saturday, Mainers flood down to Deering Oaks Park to peruse the Portland Farmer’s Market. Maine farmers, musicians, blacksmiths, butchers, florists and more come down to this quarter mile stretch of park to sell their wares. Whether you need husk cherries, lobster mushrooms, scapes, or possibly even things people have heard of before, there is no better place to find them.

Head down this Saturday to find out what Portland residents have been raving about since 1768!

Why ME – Baxter Brewing Company

Baxter Brewing Company, out of Lewiston, Maine, is everything a Maine business aspires to be: they are environmentally conscious, they source from local vendors, and, of course, they are wildly popular!

Producing everything from sessionable ales to punchy IPAs in some of the slickest-designed cans in Maine, Baxter can be found in almost every town in the state, from Portland to Millinocket.

Julia, the tasting room manager, sat down with me to talk about Baxter’s history, their philosophy, and their moose-headed logo.

Maine Madness Beer Tournament

With another spring, comes another Maine Madness Beer Tournament! Working with Dave Patterson, the beer columnist for MaineToday, we shot a video of the drawing for Maine’s only bracket-style beer tournament.

While it pits 64 of the best Maine brews against each other, this is less a competition and more a celebration of the amazing variety Maine beer drinkers have to experience.

Check out the article here, and get ready to begin voting tomorrow, March 26th!
