The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project is a Portland-based non-profit that provides free legal services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers across the state of Maine. I was privileged to work with their wonderful development director, Loretta Prescott, on a series of videos that would act as bookmarks between their levels of giving.

Featuring interviews with former clients, board members, and volunteers, these short documentaries were meant to show the tremendous impact the organization has across our community.

As a lawyer with more than forty years of experience, Jane was looking to find a way to use her skills to support the Portland community. That’s when she heard about ILAP. Familiar with the intricacies of the legal back-end of the immigration process, Jane works with ILAP clients to cut through the dozens of pages of legalese to make sense of a process that is fraught with emotion and hardship. Thanks to her tireless efforts, Maine has been able to welcome many new citizens.

Listen to her tell her story. For more information, or to find out how to support the organization, visit ilapmaine.org.
